These groups and events are part of Concord High School's extensive music program. More than 25% of the CHS student body is involved in some aspect of this program.

The Concord Friends of Music (CFOM) is the nonprofit support group for ALL Concord music programs. We exist to help the music directors, Thomas Sabatino and Justin McAdams, ensure that every music student at Concord has the best experience possible. As parents, guardians, and families of CHS music students, we volunteer in many ways to support our students' activities.

Throughout the school year, CFOM meets on the first Wednesday of every month, at 7 pm in the Chorus Room at CHS. Meetings are open to everyone, although only members may vote. Please join us.

What We Do

CFOM provides the monetary support for needed items that are NOT covered by the department's school budget. In past years, CFOM has raised money and provided the people power for the following activities and items.

  • Chaperones for all out-of-school music activities
  • Sheet music and musical arrangements
  • Instruments, instrument repairs, and sound equipment
  • Video and audio equipment for music classrooms
  • Measuring for and maintenance (washing/dry cleaning), alterations, and repair of choral and band uniforms; garment bags for new Chorale uniforms
  • Fabric and sewing of Color Guard uniforms and flags
  • Snacks and meals for students involved in musical endeavors
  • Truck transport of band instruments and equipment for football games and marching band competitions
  • Pit crew, tractor, and trailer for marching band performances
  • Selling tickets, and baking and selling refreshments for concerts

What You Can Do

All parents, friends, and families need to support CHS Music Department activities. Here's what you can do:

1.    Read and communicate:
Read about music activities in the CFOM Newsletter, which is published as part of CHS's monthly Concord Comments (mailed to every CHS family) and attend our monthly meetings.

2.    Come to the performances:
Attend the three school concerts: Holiday (December), Spring (March), and Pops (May)
All-State and community concerts, football games and band competitions, and the annual musical to support students' performances.

3.    Volunteer:
Serve pancakes and sausage, chaperone a trip, sell a poinsettia, bake some cookies, man a booth for a Fun Company picnic or Blue Rocks game, cook or serve a meal, wash a uniform, hem a Chorale dress, buy a pizza, haul a drum major stand, sell a concert ticket, help plan a banquet.

4.    Join CFOM:
As the support group for ALL musical activities at Concord High School, we strongly encourage everyone -- students, staff, parents, guardians, friends, family--to join the Concord Friends of Music. Platinum and Maestro memberships entitle you to free admission for two people to all school concerts.
